Mayor of Cebu City seems to have had his fill of bureaucracy regarding the Cebu City Medical Center. Either that, or he is trying to put the fear of privatization into government workers. The mayor has been trying to raise standards at the hospital for several years but it appears he believes the work force there is primarily interested in their own interest.

The Cebu City government confirmed plans to sell the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) to reduce its costs of running the hospital and facilitate the entry of new management to improve its services.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña confirmed in yesterday’s press conference that the University of San Carlos (USC) and the University of Cebu (UC) showed interest in buying the 47-year old CCMC.

I have been having trouble getting medical care, but this is because I have been unable to find a doctor that is willing to work with my insurance.  Or my insurance is not doing their job, I’m not sure which.  I still do not understand why Americans cannot sue their insurance companies for refusing to pay or approve medical coverage.  If they were held responsible, then more than only their bottom line would affect their decisions.
