During one of my walks in Bogo City, I stumbled upon this sweetie. She was some what embarrassed but I think also flattered. Most
Pinoy on the other hand are quite happy about getting their picture taken. They often ask me to take their picture. When asked, I almost always do.

Hey Paul, nice story’s, i’m considering moving to cebu and teaching english in a language school there. i’ve been told they pay 600-800 dollars a month or 4-5 dollars an hour. My question for you is can a man live, rent an apartment, buy groceries, on that kind of pay? Is the low pay a turn off for the pinay women or do they not care as long as u are american?
Paul? There’s no Paul here.
how much you need to live here depends on you. I would have a very hard time on that but I’m use to too many creature comforts.
$600 a month would be difficult but most pinoy war far less than that. Most earn less than $200 a month.
You’ll still be well off compared to most Filipino but, for me, it , wouldn’t be enough money for two people to live off of. But I’m spoiled.
If you can live without some things, get a small place to rent, you’ll be fine on that. I have a lot of medical cost and my health is not so good so I need more creature comforts. If you are a tuff old bird, then you’ll need less. Maybe you don’t need an Internet connection or aircon and so on. I know where you can get a 2 bedroom place (it may have been three) for P5000 or about $125.00 a month. If you get something furnished it will cost much more.
Again if you can live cheaply and then slowly build $800 is enough. My first month here, I had only $300 left after getting myself here and my things moved. My rent was already paid as well. The $300 got myself and my girl through the month. We even bought a few creature comforts like trash cans. lol Our apartment was furnished though.
If I were you, I’d look for a way to supplement my income. I’m going to be adding some links that will help with that.
This girl you took picture of has a sister living in Florida I’ve met her there visiting january 2009 no lieing
careful her husband is a retired NYPD detective
So? Don’t think I’ve done anything wrong. I’m not sure who husband is a retired NYPD, the girl in the picture. Doubtful if Liza she’s not married to an expat, she doesn’t speak English unless you meant married to the girl in Florida.
I believe her name is Liza, she is almost always as Liza’s beauty and barber shop. She seems like an exceptionally sweet girl but not a word of English and her Cebuano is usually “deeper” than Jessie can understand. For me, she’s one of the most beautiful women on the Island. Just can’t communicate with her. We just wave as we walk by and she was interested in my monkey.
I would like to ask a question. It is getting real tough to make ends meet here in the states. I am living on 1000 a month. The only way that I make it here I own my home and land. More and more people are moving to other countries allot to Mexico. I would like to move to Cebu but do not know if $1000 a month would be enough to live on. I have very simple taste and a conservative philosophy of life. What kind of life could I expect there?
Rik
It would be enough to live on but it wouldn’t be a lot of money.
You should come for a visit I think. If you didn’t own your home in the states, it would be a much easier call to make. You get a place here for a couple of hundred a month. You could do it and you might have a better life here. A guy living on a $1000 a month in the USA probably can’t have much of a social life. If you’re looking for a companion and finding it hard there due to the cost of living, you’d do better here. There is so much more though. I don’t know what your looking for.
You asked about a car some place else, I think. I’ve been her more than 2.5 years, I don’t have a car, though I’d like too.
The site is loaded with articles about the cost of living but I need to add more. Again, that you don’t have to pay rent in the USA, that will make it a closer call for you.
Don’t know how much land you have, consider selling it for more cash but not till you come for a visit first. Its the only way you are going to know for certain.
