Burglars Break into Congressman’s Office
There was a break in Wednesday night into Rep. Benhur Salimbangon office in Bogo City. Bogo City doesn’t have a lot of crime so there’s not a lot to report on here. The police found a child’s foot print they believe that was involved
in the crime
The congressman’s office was ransacked but it appears they found nothing of value to steal so they moved on to an office dealing with elections and stole P5600 which would be just over $100USD. The congressman does not think that the crime had anything to do with politics.
The guard on duty was said to have fallen to sleep. If that is true, his job is probably in jeopardy. I suspect sleeping security guards would be a common problem through out the world! So little to do so late at night is a recipe for sleep!
For a city that has so little crime, these burglars sure picked a hotspot to break into. If they ran their mouth about their exploits, I suspect they are already in jail. Sounds like it might have been kids.
Bogo City is a town located in Northern Cebu Island. It is really no longer a city as the law making it a city was held to be unconstitutional and demoted back to a municipality.

Benhur Salimbangon sounds familiar…I think he is from Bohol…I am not sure.
He would be from Bohol and have an office and represent Cebu?
I do not knwo but there are a lot of Salimbangons in Bohol…could be related. anyway, ny cousin’s husband was a governor in Bohol one time and they live in Cebu.
Terry, I may have been guilty of thinking too American. In the States, as you know, most political offices require the candidate to be a resident of the area they wish to represent.
Some cities in the USA require all employees to live within the city. I think the cities have run into some problems with that in court but have found ways to keep the policy in force for some employees, like police and fireman. Don’t know what the status of that is now.
I don’t think I’d want my governor living in another state though.
My cousin and her husband stayed in Bohol until his term ended. They are now in the states with their other children but go home to Cebu when it is winter time here. If I have a dual citizenship, I could run for mayor in my hometwon…yes there is residency requirement but I think it is only a year or less. The Osmenas were in the states as well as most of them, and Thomas and Margot came home when Tom planned to run as mayor for Cebu City. They could have been retaining their filipino citizenship or have dual citizenship or reverted to being Filipinos, I could not remember anymore.
What is a shame Rusty is if it was just kids, they are turning into what is here. Difference here they are held responsible. There You can not prosecute a minor. Here they can be kept at juvenile facility, there they are taken to child protective and then to they parents to punish. Although here they can be charged at adult if crime is bad enough so at 18 they learn all about prison.
Off subject but I was not able to leave comment on ” when friendships go bad ” I hope I did not say some wrong?
Andy, that was a presidental order to not arrest minors in the Philippines. I believe that order has been rescinded. I’ve seen several cases of teens being prosecuted recently.
I’ve asked others about that and they didn’t know what I was talking about. I did read about it several times though in Cebu Daily News.
The mayors of many cities in the Philippines have other ways of dealing with habitual criminals, I’m not condoning it, in fact, I don’t but it does keep the streets crime free, or greatly reduced anyway.
oh I could not find to open to leave commement maybe it was too late I have been so busy last weeks to sell this house so we can at least live in same country
Hey, do u guys know what they should call burglars in Bogo? Bogolars
Joe, your coming in July?
You’re a bit behind in the news Rusty – you’ve been sleeping too much again?
And I’m coming back in July too, so I’m gonna surprise you, I”ll be in PI for 5 weeks then, once I’ve offloaded the kids back in Oz.
Very funny Joe! hey, which part of July you’re coming over? I’m coming back late July. I’ll be in Cebu late June to early July, go back to Oz, work for 2 weeks then I’ve got 5 weeks off end of July to all of August.

Hi JC! thanks. Hope you stop by and comment often!
Hi ,Rusty and Christine. Yeah, I’m currently planning on flying into Manila around July 6 or 7. I just posted a theoretical itinerary on a comment thread at Rusty’s other website, right here. I am pretty flexible on dates, although since it seems like my roundtrip airfare will cost the same regardless of how long my trip lasts, I’m now becoming tempted to make it a 6-7 week long trip, instead of the 4-5 weeks I originally was planning on. I would definately have more time to relax and take my time that way. Christine, are you thinking about possibly going to Bogo and/or Bantayan while you are there this summer? If so, it would be cool if I set my travel times up so I can visit those places at the same time. Just a thought, since I promise I’m not trying to weasel any free belly dances out of you
I will be in PI with my 2 kids to see the family, but for 14 days, only. I will then come back to Oz, I had to work for 2 weeks then hopefully fly out again on 23, and stay for 5 weeks till end of August. That way winter here will be well and truely over. I will definitely see Rusty, then. But all this of course hinges on whether my friend will be allowed to fly. So I guess for now, wait and see. I should know for sure by June. I’d like to meet you too, so if everything works out, we will get Rusty to cook for all of us, hey Rusty?
If you are all nice to me, I might get generous and give ya’ all a free dance. Only trouble with that, your girfriends will probably kick your butts big time
My girlfriend wont kick my butt. i’ll be looking forward to it.
No, she won’t kick your butt, she’ll probably only remove a particular “appendage”
no she wont
she’s smart, thinks I’m awesome!
Really? Is it her opinion or yours????
Based on what she tells others. Bob commented that she was very good to me and she told him “well he’s really good to me.” Ask her, maybe se’ll respond. I wish she would get on here. bob encouraged her to do so too.
I suppose if you are good to someone, it’s bound to get reciprocated. Only people that don’t/won’t are those Anti-social Personality Disorder. You could never do anything right, and you are always wrong, and they are always right. Our mentla health services is full of them. I actually had such a stressfull day today because all I did all morning is deal with people like this. If I could drink alcohol, I would probably hit the bottle when I got home. As it happens, I can only tolerate Coke, so I hit the bottle – bottle of Coke that is
Jessie is an angel…. Even in Bangkok, as I unpacked my meds i could feel the love she put into packing it and it made me feel really good. I don’t think she’d treat me like that well if she was unhappy. She could do better in many ways, she gets lots of offers.
I agree, she’s an Angel or a Saint – only one of those would put up with someone
as flirty as you. Else , you would have been walking, minus an important “appendage” a long time ago.
Now you make sure you tell her I said that.
Nope, she has to come read it herself. and hopefully comment too!
