Living and Playing in Bogo City
On the seventh day of March 2009 we were invited to join a group for some BBQ and Disco. Being the first part of the month, I still had spending cash and off we went. First, we stopped at the Pizza Pub and had some sausage and beer and maybe a cigar. I enjoy sitting outside of the pub when its not too hot. I can see and socialize with the Filipino, especially the pinay (females).

They have people that like to come sit out there and not buy anything which is kind of ridiculous as that prevents paying customers from sitting there and spending their money! So they have started putting out more signs asking people not to do that.
I’ve never seen this spelling of the word “attention” before, if they do it in the USA, I never noticed it. It could be I’m being more observant here as there are so many new things.
In attempt to make it even more clear, they also write this on the other side of the placard. While most Filipino can read English, and write it to some extent, not all can read this. Too many children are forced out of school at an early age so that they can help feed the family. The Philippines is going to great lengths to try to curb this. The World Bank is also trying to help keep kids in school. But now, I’m getting off the subject.

I don’t get pizza there much at all now, they messed it up and made me paid for it and that still does not set well with me. I’m also cutting back on the pizza as much as possible. I can’t loose weight and eat those too. One of them puts everything I lost back on. Sometimes though it is the cheapest option as it can be shared with more than one person.
Greg is looking quite pleased with himself on this night and how could you blame him? From here we went on to the Japer’s Disco. We had a lot of fun, I made a couple of new friends. Jessie and I have become rather close to Jean. And Lisa plans to come for a visit tonight to check out the monkey we got yesterday.
This monkey is not as tame as George was. She is older. She may never be as tame. Right now all she is out of her cage and not really even interested in food. She discard the orange, turned her nose up at the yellow banana and ate some of the rice and spilled a lot more of it on the floor. She’s not use to having so much to eat but she needs to eat, she’s pretty thin.
I’ll close this post with a gallery of pictures which includes some taken at the disco and of Jean coming for a visit the next day. Jessie bought some cleaning supplies from her. Jean has a business selling these supplies which earns her some money.
We had a brown out in Bogo today. First one in a while. I don’t think they did one last month. I don’t recall about January. Now we are back in the peak heating months. When we got up this morning we found the air conditioner out. Jessie and I woke when our new monkey called out to us.

Is it possible monkey is homesick?
It takes a lot of time. I have over 500 pictures this month and still clicking!
Have you noticed the pictures i’ve been posting are not even to the middle of the month yet? I’m working on it, I am anxious to get them up. Just can’t get to it.
The monkey is doing MUCH better today.
We have discovered the chain on him has done quite a bit of damage. We are starting to medicate it a little, not too much as we don’t know if my triple antibiotic cream is bad for her or not. That sore on her leg is what is making her limp. She may have injured it a bit when she struggled with me yestereday
Today I have a very well behaved monkey. She follows Jessie around like she’s her mother. She’s still fearful of me but she’s no longer avoiding me. I’ve had her in my lap now.
We fed her an egg this morning she is a monkey favorite. She ate most of an orange, well she really drinks that. We are out of bananas but we will get more later. She’s also ate bread and havingn far more bow movements.
She’s coming along just fine. She did bite jessie today. Not a series bite. She was gettingn into something and Jessie yelled. Monkeys have 10 times the hearing ability of humans, or was it 100, I don’t remember. Loud noises can make the aggressive.
She didn’t bite hard enough to draw blood.
Next she proceeded to bite a hole in our alcohol bottle. Grrrr She’s starting to get into everything which is a good sign.
Homesick? No. Very afraid of her new surroundings, very much so.
Grooming them is the way to unggoy’s's (monkeytful of me.
Cage builder is ready to start but we haave no money to pay him yet.
He’s gotta go out and buy the materials.
We found out today that he installed the grills/burglar bars on our windows and they are well made.
Everything is evening out, it just takes time.
Will have pictures soon.
There, now the gallery is displaying pictures
It’s good to know monkey is slowly adjusting. I think it’s funny and cute that she is following Jess around. Maybe you can put a skirt and top on monkey one of these days. LOL! I can just imagine what she’d look like with those.
You know, I haven’t even viewed one single pic from your Bantayan trip.
The monkey is adjusting quite well. After she and I had a screaming match the other day, she’s been very well behaved. She went ape threatening me so I gave her a taste of her on behavior and she didn’t like it at all!
She has sores on her from her old chain that are hurting her badly. That’s what caused the injury I spoke of before. She’s out in the “dirty” kitchen now. Stayed there over night, gives her more room but makes me nervous. It would be a good place to keep her except it stinks in their after 24 hours so not a good place. That place is going to need some major cleaning once we get the cage built.
I am worried about her right left leg. She drags it around at times. She can move it and use it but I think its hurting her badly. We will get her a cloth covered chain ASAP!
I just took her an egg, she loves those and I’m sure she needs them. She had a banana this morning too. I think the transtition will be easier than I first thought.
I’ll go get her in a little while and bring her up.
That would have been a sight, man and monkey screaming at each other!
Lucky no one called the police.
I hope the rescue had not been too late, and I hope her injuries are not lasting.
The monkey man as I’m sometimes called her may be the one in need of taming Christine.
She’s going to be fine. Watching her try so hard to escape the first day was heart breaking.
Seeing her loving Jessie last night was heart warming. I think she’s a happy monkey right now.
Good to hear she’s bonding with Jess.
Forgot! Would you let me know when my brother’s been to see you? I can’t phone him till Sat.
Sure, its not a problem.. She’s living much better than she was. I keep concentraing on ha. She needs a shower and she’s no going to liek that.
It was surely a sight. They almost gave me a panic attack. I thought Juliet is going to bite Rusty!
Hi Jess, good to see another girl here. This forum need girl power LOL!
How did the shower go?
Heard anything from my brother yet?
Hi Christine. We gave Juliet a shower today and she seems to like it. She stinks so bad. Smells like a ripe banana. She clung to Rusty like a wee little baby.It sure is fun to watch the big white monkey giving the small monkey a shower
Yeah, he went by yesterday. and the guys are starting to build the cage. I just hope Juliet will like her new home.
