Walking and Living in Bogo City
Pictures of The Philippines
Living in Cebu, Philippines gives me many pictorial opportunities through just normal day life. The challenge is to see them. When you see the same things every day, it gets hard to see something new and worthy of a picture. Now I always see plenty of Filipina worthy of having their picture taken. Guys usually love to have their pictures taken, perhaps I should take more pictures of guys. I’ll make a point to do that. Filipina, often are a little harder, they often hide when I try. Sometimes pleading works though. Here is the perfect example. I took a picture of the pretty Filipina that was in this tricycle and she didn’t notice. However, the friendly driver did notice and wanted me to take his picture and I was happy to do so. I saw the opportunity for a good picture. His face would be great for black and white photography, if I knew what I was doing.
When I took his picture the girl turned her back on me. When she thought I was done, I tried to tell her I already had her picture.
I think I got the message across to her when I pointed at her, then the lens on my camera with a very big smile on my face.
Pretty Filipina hiding from me is just not allowed.
The jewel of the orient is truly the Filipina. It looks like I’ll be spending a few days in Bangkok, Thailand within the next three months. Nothing set yet. I’m sure I’ll find something to take pictures of while I’m there as well. This article is broken up into several pages so don’t forget to go to the next page or you will miss some of my pictures on what it is like to live in Cebu.
I found this dainty flower along our walk one day. Its not your average flower, perhaps its not a flower at all but I think it is.
I think I’ll close this post out with one of my favorite pictures of Jessie. We had another brown out so off to Jollibee’s we went. Luckily it didn’t last long and I didn’t eat more than I should have. Not that french fries are ever a good choice but fast food french fries in the Philippines are still quite good. I really like this picture of her.
Finally the gallery for a few of our walks in Bogo City. I got a kick out of the “No Entry” sign that was lined with back to back tricycles and motor bikes. There was a rooster fight at one of the homes on that street and it was packed with people. That’s what all the bikes are parked there for. There was a barangay festival going on. A good Filipino knows there is no such thing as a bad excuse to party.

I’ve finally had the chance to check out your photos – and yes I recognized some of the Bogo landmarks. It really is a gorgeous place, the more I checked them out, the more I’m so envious of you. But I’m very thankful for the photos, it eased my homesickness. Though I did not come from Bogo, the scenery reminded me so much of Tabogon when I used to visit my beloved grandmother. Last year’s visit gave me a chance to see Bogo, but obviously not a lot. I didn’t even know there was a port there. My cousin took me and the kids to the local markets and they were very intrigue. I can’t say enough how much I loved the photos. I will visit them again next time I have my day off. It just make me feel home again. Thanks again…
I hope you join in the discussion and I hope I have more up for you. I know its hard to recognize the landscape when I’m taking pictures of so many 20 year old Filipina. LOL
Yea there are two ports, the one I have pictures of is not the Official Port of Bogo City, that’s further north. I haven’t been there because I don’t have transportation. I can see it from the wharf though.
I need to walk to the market more often. Its about 2 miles round trip. I use to go at least once a week but not so much any more. I guess I should get another monkey so I can be entertained when I walk. Keeping up with his antics was fun I guess. He was a pain in the butt but he was fun.
Hi Cebuano Expat, please do continue taking photos of the Filipinas. Forget the men! (even if they love the camera) =)
LOL PP, I’ll keep taking pictures of the Filipina even if I do add in more men. See many times when the guys ask me, I take there picture then turn and photograph a nearby Filipina before she can hide. LOL
