Keeping Up with the exchange rate for the USD to the Philippine Peso? Wonder what the history of the dollar to peso is? Is the peso strong or is the dollar strong? Or maybe you just want to know how many peso’s your going to get for your dollar.

The table below shows the value of the dollar and peso over the last year. It shows that by day. It also shows how much gold a dollar could buy on the same day. If the dollar is buying more Philippine Peso and buying more gold too, then the dollar is strong. If the dollar is going up against the Philippine Peso but falling against gold, the dollar is not as strong. I’ve also added percent change in the value of the Philippine Peso and Gold to the chart.

Finally I added some other currencies to compare too. These values for those currencies are all in relation to the dollar, not the Philippine Peso. This table is intended to get an idea of the strength of the dollar and he peso. So when you s ee thee number 0.6202 as the value for the Brittish Pound, that means your dollar will buy you that much of a pound. So you’ll need more than a dollar to get a single British Pound but it will buy you 92.586 Yen on the same day.

When you see a negative number for the percentage change for either gold and the Philippine Peso, the value of the dollar has gone down.

PHP = Philippine Peso
USD = United States Dollar
XUA = Gold
GBP = Great British Pound
JPY = Japanese Yen

If you want to know how the dollar is doing, this is the place to look. If you want to know what the value of the dollar is today or how many peso you dollar will get you today, there are better places to obtain that information. Give XE.COM a try. Hopefully, i will have tools to help with daily Philippine Peso to USD exchange rates soon. The exchange rate is key to expat finances.

If I believe the Peso will go down to 32 next year, should I buy the Peso now w/ US $ and then buy $ back with the lower valued Peso. Also, where is a good place to buy the Peso?

  David, if you want to get into currency trading you need to learn a LOT. If the Peso goes to 32 it hasn’t gone down, it has gone up.
  
  But yes, if you believe that you should buy but you might want to convert it to gold instead.
  
  You would buy from a Forex broker so google that term, you should find them. You can probably buy them with eTrade or other online account.
  
  I wonder how trading in the peso will work though, there are tight export restrictions on the peso. If you live in the Philippines, an easy way to do it would be to send USD to a peso bank account in the Philippines.
  
  I’ve actually started working on a site dedicated about learning Forex trading but it has only one article on it right now and it is very general. I have much more I need to do on it before I tell people where it is.
  
  I’ve never actually tried that, I’m too busy trying to save in USD and not doing very well at it. LOL
  
  I”m better at spending. So for me it just boils down too I have less money to spend when the dollar to Philippine peso rate falls.

    Thanks Rusty. I did realize my mistake after sending. I will check with Charles Schwab since I have accounts there. I will begin the learning process. I was thinking I could buy the Peso & place in my safe. Oh well.
    I will continue to watch this site. I hope to move to Cebu in five years.

      The reason I mentioned that you have a lot of learning to do is because I recently researched the topic of getting started in Forex and that is something I found. Takes lots of learning, it doesn’t seem like it is one of situations that I’m good at, jump in and swim. Looks like it is good to learn to swim before you jump in.
      
      Let me know what you find out about about buying peso. The Philippines issues bonds but they often do it in currencies of other countries. Buying bonds would be a way to buy peso. I think?
