Walking In Bogo City

This post covers the period from 03-02-09 to 03-06-09 and over 50 pictures. There are a lot of pictures during these days that I like. So this post will will be spread over several pages. The last page will contain a gallery of all the pictures in this series.

I’ve been going on longer walks, struggling to get weight off and blood sugar under control. I’ve had some success and some set backs but lots of pictures. I’ve been trying to walk two miles for at least two days and then a day off. These longer walks give me lots of time to take pictures.

Bantayan Island Fun

Bantayan Island

I’ve spent the last couple of days in Bantayan Island. If I hadn’t run out of clean clothes, I would still be there. I enjoyed my time with no news and no computer. Heck, I was out of credits so I didn’t even have a phone.

What I did have was my camera, I took over 200 pictures. I had my girl. I had white sand and crystal clear salt water and all its healing properties. I had the cool ocean breeze and the waves kissing the steps of my hotel room.

Exploring The Streets of Cebu

While walking in Cebu City, I ran across this older Filipina and this picture is my favorite for the five day period.

I took her hand and held the back of it to my forehead. This ritual is called mano po and is a sign of respect. I’ve had children do this to me as I walk down the street. I pick at Jessie and ask her to give me mano po but she looks like she’s going to stick a spear in me instead. LOL

I so often take pictures of pretty young Filipina but I really like to take pictures of older people too. Their faces are so often full of character. This woman’s happy nature despite the likely hardships in her life is something that I see every day here in the Philippines. Its a part of the Philippines that is hard to get across in words. Beauty comes in many forms and there is beauty in this picture.

A Funny Thing Happened

Trip To Philippine Post Office

It seems no matter what I do or where I go in the Philippines, there is always the chance for some thing strange to happen. Tricycles often bottom out. These are tricycles attached to a motor cycle. Usually uneventful. Jessie tells me of the story when she and her friends in high school poured so many people onto one that they turned it over!

Meandering In The Philippines

Which Ever Way The Monsoon Blows in Cebu

Thought I’d post some pictures I’ve taken in the last week during my walks. Not walking to any place in particular, just walking here or there. Trying to loose some weight and meeting the Filipino. Expats and tourist, get out of your cars and off your motors and walk. Your missing the Philippines if you drive every where you go. I miss far more of the Philippines even doing walking. Until I’m in their homes, experiencing their life they way the do, I’m missing much.
